World Cup 2026
Football has always carried the values of HKL.
Long before HKL had a name, the beautiful game was already practising humility, kindness and love — on pitches in every country, in every language, with every nation watching. This is why we chose the 2026 FIFA World Cup as the backdrop for our biggest challenge yet.
What Football Has Given the World
Football is far more than ninety minutes and a scoreline. At its best, it is one of humanity's greatest expressions of shared values. Here is why.
Connecting Nations
Over five billion people watched the last FIFA World Cup. No other event on earth brings together so many nations, cultures, languages and faiths in a shared moment of joy. Football does not ask where you are from. It asks only: do you love the game?
Standing Against Racism
Players like Marcus Rashford, Raheem Sterling and Didier Drogba have used their platforms to confront racism head-on — not just on the pitch, but in society. The "Taking the Knee" movement brought global attention to racial injustice. Football has a voice, and its greatest players have not been afraid to use it.
Mental Health and Vulnerability
When players like Andrés Iniesta spoke openly about depression, or when goalkeepers and strikers alike began discussing anxiety, something shifted. Football started to show the world that strength is not the absence of struggle — it is the courage to face it. This is humility in its truest form.
Equality and Fair Play
FIFA's Fair Play Award has recognised teams and players for decades — not for winning, but for how they play. Japan's fans cleaning stadiums after matches. Ireland supporters helping broken-down rival supporters' coaches. The handshake at the final whistle. Football teaches that how you conduct yourself matters as much as the score.
Developing the Children of Tomorrow
Grassroots football develops far more than technical skill. It teaches discipline, teamwork, resilience and respect. Millions of children around the world learn through the game that losing gracefully and winning humbly are among the most important lessons life has to offer. The pitch is a classroom.
Where Football Meets HKL
Our World Cup Quiz does not just test football knowledge — it holds up a mirror to moments where players and teams chose something greater than victory. It asks: do you recognise humility when you see it? Kindness when it matters most? Love for something beyond the self?
The 2026 World Cup, with 48 nations competing across the USA, Canada and Mexico from June 11 to July 19, is the largest football tournament in history. For HKL, it is also an opportunity — to reach new people, start new conversations, and inspire a new generation to consider what values they want to carry through life.
